Structure Composition Of Refractory Castable

Refractory castables consist of three parts, cementing material, aggregate and admixture, and sometimes add coagulant.

Refractory aggregate is the main body of refractory concrete, all kinds of refractory materials (clay, high alumina, silica, magnesia, etc.), after calcined clinker, or all kinds of waste bricks can be broken to a certain extent can be used as refractory aggregate. The size of the aggregate particles has a great influence on the quality of the products, so the size of the aggregate particles, in addition to a certain limit, is also required in a certain proportion. The refractory aggregate is equivalent to the gravel and sand of the concrete for the ordinary building. In refractory concrete batching, aggregates generally account for 70% to 80%. Among them, coarse aggregate (5 ~ 20mm) accounted for 35% to 45% of the batching, and fine aggregate (0.15 to 5mm) accounted for 30% to 35%.

Cementing material plays a role of cementation and hardening, so that the product has certain strength. Those that can be used as cementing materials are ordinary portland cement, bauxite cement (high pin cement), magnesia cement, sodium silicate, phosphoric acid, etc. In order to ensure that the concrete has sufficient refractoriness (the cement is used as flux at high temperature, the more the amount is, the more the concrete is less refractory), and to reduce the volume shrinkage of the concrete in the process of use, the amount of cement should be as little as possible, generally 10% to 25%, and it is hoped that the cementing material and the bone can not produce more low melting material.

Some refractory concrete, such as phosphate refractory concrete, must also be added with a small amount of coagulant to speed up the hardening and consolidation of concrete.

In order to improve the performance of refractory concrete, such as increasing the strength during the heating process and reducing the volume shrinkage, 10% to 25% of the admixture is often added. The raw material of the admixture is the same as that of the aggregate. It is a finely grained refractory powder, and the fineness of 70% to 80% is below 0.088mm.
